"I joined Little Orchard in October 2016 and was based in the Ivytown setting. I worked in the baby room and made some fantastic bonds with the children and families. In April 2017 I decided that I wanted to have a change of career and left to work in a motorcycle shop. After 3 months and a few visits from the children I quickly realised that I missed working with children and couldn’t think of a better nursery to return to than Little Orchard, fortunately there was a job for me.
In July 2017 I covered at all 3 nurseries and got to meet all the
children, families, and staff, it was lovely to work with everyone.
Then in August I was based in Ivybridge as deputy manager and
then became SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinating
Officer) . Since becoming SENCO I have learnt so much. The
children have taught me unbelievable things! I have now progressed to managing the Ivy Town setting.
I have learnt more since starting at Little Orchards than I had in 8 previous years in childcare. I have learnt all about SEN and about Montessori. I really love the Montessori ethos and can see the difference it makes to a child's development."
Briony Milden, Setting Manager
Little Orchard Ivybridge Town is a situated in the centre of a small Devonshire town. This larger setting has one spacious, central room, an area for babies to sleep, a separate office and a kitchen area.
The main room is divided into curriculum areas with wooden shelved trolleys full of of engaging Montessori activities for the children to choose from. The under twos have their own area in the main room and a separate quieter area for sleeping. Being all together in one room gives the nursery our familiar family feel. Older children can go to younger areas, so that siblings and friends can be with each other if they wish to.
Ivybridge Town Montessori Nursery is open from 8am - 6pm and we offer the children breakfast, a two course hot lunch produced by a qualified chef, high tea and snacks. As the kitchen is based in our main nursery room, the children benefit from seeing the food being prepared and can sometimes help our chef by taking part. Children are also welcome to bring their own food from home. For more information on our food click here
Our lovely outside facilities include a fenced grassed area where the children can plant vegetables, hang bird feeders, play and chat to their friends, balance on stepping stones and so much more.
We are so fortuntate that our nursery is based in a traditional town in the heart of Devon as we can take the children on trips to the local butchers, bakers, library or to feed the ducks; plus there is also a large public field to play ball games.
Children attending our Devon based nursery in Ivybridge Town move on to a variety of primary schools due to our large catchment area and we support all our children in their transition.
