Jane Mann - Assistant Manager , Head Teacher and Early Years Professional Trainee, First Aid, Safe Guarding Children
Level 3, Food and Hygiene, Senco
My introduction to Montessori was 20 years ago, when my first child came to Little Orchard. Several years later I decided to study Montessori by distance
learning and also started working at the nursery. I have since gained experience at other pre and primary school settings
but I was delighted to return to Montessori when a job became available again at Little Orchard. I really enjoy seeing the
children gain in independence and confidence through the Montessori approach.I bring with me a love of the outdoors, in all
weathers, whether it’s walking on Dartmoor or the coast path, doing agility with my dog, or helping to maintain our
land at home. I also have a real passion for local food and farming! Julie Miller - Assistant Manager, NVQ3, First Aid, Food and Hygiene, Fire Safety, Safe Guarding Children I have been married for 20 years and am a mother to
4 lively teenagers. I was born in Tavistock and have always lived in Devon and Cornwall. We settled in Ivybridge 17 years
ago but we spend quite a lot of our leisure time in North Cornwall. I am a lover of films, history, reading
and am a member of a local book group. As a family we have recently taken on an allotment with mixed success! I was a civil servant until my own children were all at school and then I took on voluntary and part time roles
at a local primary school. I had the opportunity to come to Little Orchard Montessori in 2006. I truly value
working with the children, they are a joy to be with. I feel the Montessori method provides children with the opportunities
to develop their independence, to learn about our world and the people in it in a calm, respectful and happy environment.
